Diabetes is a condition that puts us at more risk of contracting flus like the ones transmitted with the Coronavirus.
That is why they recommend we get flu-shots for the rest of our lives.
Unfortunately a shot is not available to minimize the risk of catching Covid-19.
They tell us that older people, and those with pre-existing medical conditions, such as diabetes, heart disease and respiratory conditions, appear to be more vulnerable to becoming seriously ill with the virus, but that is no reason to panic.
You can take relatively simple precautions.
For anyone, with or without diabetes, the best thing you can do is to become informed, so that you can be proactive in preventing any illness. With diabetes specifically, those with well controlled blood glucose levels do not face an increased risk of contracting the illness. However, if contracted, the risk of experiencing severe illness would be increased due to the underlying condition.
Those with poorly controlled diabetes would be at an increased risk of contracting the illness and once contracted, “the condition would be a serious concern in our community”.
I'll send you helpful information, tips and tricks when I've come across something I think is worthy of your time.
The material on this page is what I've picked up after being diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes in October 2018.
I am not a doctor and you should consult one to see which treatment and management options are right for you.
Take your meds. Track your progress. Good luck.
I put this web together for my dad and his friends who are also tackling diabetes type II. Turns out it's easy to find lots of stuff about this but hard to find practical information.
